Our History

Capital National Alliance (“CNA”) is a strategic alliance between Capital International, Inc. and National Corporate Investment Services Limited (a member of the National Australia Bank Limited (“NAB”) group of companies). CNA’s origins date back to July 1997 when a strategic alliance was formed between Lend Lease/MLC and one of the world’s most respected international equity managers, Capital International.  The alliance grew out of a longstanding relationship whereby MLC had used Capital International to manage global equities since the mid-1980s, when it established its manager of manager business model.

After NAB acquired the Lend Lease/MLC business in June 2000, a dedicated team of now eight people, the majority of whom have investment management backgrounds was formed to focus exclusively on building Capital International’s institutional business in Australia and New Zealand.  In December 2000, the name “Capital National Alliance” was adopted by the alliance to reflect the nature of the relationship between Capital International and National Corporate Investment Services Limited.
